About Me

"The main purpose for the trip and the activities is to expose our kids to symphony players, actors, and rhythmic artists, conductors and directors that are at the pinnacle of their craft. The hope being, that our students will connect the fact that we are not different as people – as humans, but what these people have done is invested the time and hard work, and preparation and education in their own talents to become the best." All in a day's "work"...

Awesome breakfast buffet at 7, on a boat by 9, Ellis Island at 9:30, Lady Liberty at 11:00, ferry to Battery Park and lunch at noon,  9-11 Memorial at 2:45, dinner at 5:00, New York Philharmonic concert at Lincoln Center at 6:45....and 12 hours later..........we are back at the hotel and have 3 rehearsals and some social time before the taping ritual at 10:30. NBD (no big deal).

We are perfecting the art of bus exiting/entering in a New York Minute which is amazing because 2 days ago we didn't even know what that was and now we are like experts. Five extremely tired teen girls and for sure at least one chaperone (eh-hem) learned that when you are super comfortable in your seat in the Lincoln Center listening to the perfection of the New York Philharmonic - one well timed (loud) tympani strike during Tchaikovsky can unrelax you instantly and make you suspicious of the tympani for the rest of the performance.

We were reminded at how awesome our kids are - amazingly patient and we experienced how being friendly really pays off.
